Guests dining indoors in the laundromat and Fresa’s are asked to present a vaccination card along with ID.

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin’s Launderette and Fresa restaurants announced Monday night that indoor diners require proof of at least an initial round of COVID-19 vaccination.

The restaurants that share ownership groups will be the first to implement such a policy in Austin. It comes after several concerts and events in the Austin area over the past few weeks rolled out similar guidelines that require proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 tests.

Those who dine in the restaurants will be asked for their vaccination card or photo and ID. Indoor diners in Launderette and Fresa also have to wear masks when they are not seated at a table.

Outdoor guests do not need proof of vaccination and do not need to wear masks. Guests outside may use the toilets masked without showing proof of vaccination.

Families with children under the age of 11, a group not yet eligible for COVID-19 vaccines, must choose to have a meal on the patio.

“Austin is at level 5 and it just feels right for the safety of our employees and guests to do so,” the ownership told KVUE’s media partners at the American Statesman on Tuesday.

Ownership informed the statesman that they would like to keep the protocol at least as long as Austin stays in Phase 5.

Employees who are not vaccinated must show a negative COVID-19 test weekly, statesman says, and all employees must wear masks.

As per Level 5 guidelines, Austin Public Health recommends unvaccinated and partially vaccinated residents avoid all restaurants and use the curb and delivery options.
