Rep. James Talarico, representing Round Rock, returned to Texas on August 9th. Ninety-five MPs were in attendance at the State Capitol Monday night. If five more arrived, the State House would meet the quorum and be able to do business.

I’m at home!

Our quorum break has put the TX Voter Suppression Bill in the spotlight and brought Congress closer to passing a state suffrage bill to repeal it. I am confident they will.

A tweet from Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos indicated that Rep. Mary Gonzalez and Rep. Joe Moody of El Paso were also in attendance.

At 6.15 p.m. there was a call of the house and the doors were locked, with members having to obtain permission to leave the day if the day was adjourned. The doors were not locked to members entering. At 6:35 p.m. the day was postponed to Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Texas Senate has passed its first second session bills. Many bills, such as the following, were passed by the Senate during the first special session.
