1. Chop chop, an Austin-based company that makes street-style Asian noodle soups, launched a delivery service called Club Mian on Jan. 6. Customers can order a pack of pasta cups once or sign up for a subscription with 3-12 packs of monthly delivery. The company was founded as a pop-up in 2020 by locals Steve Har and Eugene Lin. In addition to the subscription service, it now offers pasta cups in retailers such as Royal Blue Grocery, Quickie Pickie and Thom’s Market. www.chopchop.cc
2. Copper stone, a new residential project from developer Meritage Homes, construction started in January and is expected to start moving in late 2021. The parish will include 154 homes on 31 acres near the intersection of FM 1625 and Twin Creek Road. Unit prices will start at $ 300,000 and square footage will range from 1,363 to 2,844 square feet, according to a press release from Meritage Homes.
3. Gabrick BBQwho previously operated a trailer at Last Stand Brewing Co., 12345 Pauls Valley Road, Bldg I, Austin, has closed its trailer but continues to sell its barbecue sauce online and at HEB grocery stores. Owner Mark Gabrick said in a press release that rising rental rates and restrictions due to the pandemic had caused him to change his business model. Starting January 18th, three types of Gabrick BBQ Sauce will be available in HEB stores. www.gabrickbbq.com
4th Mighty Fine Burgers, Fries & Shakes was purchased on January 4th by Tony Ciola and Creed Ford, the co-owners of the hospitality group behind Tony C’s Coal Fired Pizza and The League Kitchen & Tavern. The burger chain has been operating in the greater Austin area for more than 10 years, with five locations including one at 5601 Brodie Lane, Ste. 1300, sunset valley. 5. Pinthouse Brewery opened its new location on January 6th at 2201 E. Ben White Blvd., Austin. This is the fourth location for the local brewery and restaurant. 6th Precision camera & video will open a new location in late February at 9600 S. IH-35 Frontage Road, Austin, in the Southpark Meadows Mall, adjacent to the Marshalls. The cameras, video, equipment, and educational materials store originally opened in Austin in 1976. Its North Austin location on West Anderson Lane will remain open, but the William Cannon Drive location will be closing with the opening of the new South Austin store. www.precision-camera.com
