AUSTIN (KXAN) – The travel problems for Spirit Airlines passengers continue.

The low-cost airline blames “operational challenges” for widespread disruptions and cancellations. The flight attendants union says bad weather, staffing and technology issues are to blame.

According to flight tracking website FlightAware, there have been reports of more than 1,700 scrapped flights since last weekend, including more than 420 on Thursday.

“The e-mail literally said: ‘We have important information to provide you with. Her flight has been canceled, ‘”said the bride-to-be, Samantha Armino, who was forced to rebook flights for her bachelorette party, which she booked six months ago. “We didn’t receive a ‘I’m sorry’. We did not receive a “thank you”. It was cold and it was accidental. “

Armino’s flight was scheduled to leave New Jersey around 11 a.m. but was canceled shortly after midnight with no explanation, she said shortly after arriving in Austin.

“I was devastated,” said Armino. “I was plagued by fear all morning. I ran out of my credit because I put all 12 girls on my credit to make sure we can all stay together. It affected me mentally and financially and, you know, spiritually. This should be a fun and exciting time for me and the morning was tough. “

Spirit has canceled 32 flights to and from Austin-Bergstrom International since Sunday, airport officials said, including 11 on Thursday.
