Step Up Scale Down Program In Austin To Be Presented By AgriLife Extension

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be launching its Step Up Scale Down Weight Loss Program September 1st through November. 10.

The program is a joint effort by AgriLife Extension offices in Travis, Hays, Caldwell and Bexar counties. The 12-week sessions offer advice on exercise and a healthy diet as well as nutrition tips.
The program consists of six face-to-face sessions from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the AgriLife Extension Travis County’s office at 1600-B Smith Road, Austin. There are also six sessions that participants can conduct from home at their own pace. The meetings in the agency offices will take place on September 1st, September 15th, September 29th, October 13th, October 17th and November 10th.
“This is a research-based program that has proven successful in helping people lose weight and develop healthy habits,” said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension Family and Community Health Agent, Travis County.

The topics of the individual sessions include:
– Downsize by setting goals.
– Ascend to a healthy plate.
– Scale down by reading the label.
– Get started with breakfast and menu planning.
– Scale down with Moves to Lose.
– Increase your hydration.
– Downsize by finding your motivational mojo.
– Step up to healthy snacking.
– Shrink with a colored plate.
– Rise to successful socializing.
– Zoom out by knowing your numbers.
– Get on and celebrate.
The cost is $ 40 if registered by August 30th and $ 50 if registered between September 1st and 21st.

All participants receive a folder with handouts and two cookbooks to help them achieve their weight goal. There will be incentives to attend five of the six face-to-face sessions and a $ 10 gift card will be given to those who reach their goal weight.
