CASA hosts Casino Night fundraiser
CASA for the Cross Timbers Area is hosting its annual Casino Night fundraiser on Saturday from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm at Big Red Barn, 3159 N US Hwy 67, Stephenville.
The event features dinner, drinks, entertainment and a live auction.
The money raised goes to the CASA organization, which helps abused and neglected children create a lasting, caring environment.
CASA is a non-profit advocacy group. Our judge-appointed volunteers work individually to help foster children from the region grow up in safe, permanent, and loving homes.

Downtown vendors hold street sales
The Stephenville Downtown Merchants are holding an End of Summer Sidewalk Sale all day Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7th.
Every downtown merchant has special offers in addition to the tax-free weekend discounts.

Church organizes clothing swaps for children
Cornerstone Assembly of God, 950 Glen Rose Hwy, is hosting its annual free children’s clothing swap on Saturday, August 7th, from 8am to 12pm
Children’s clothing sizes 4T to high school can be picked up. Find what you need, wrap it up and take it home with you.
Donations will be accepted from August 2nd until the event. Children’s clothing that is gently worn, including shoes, jackets, and backpacks, is required. Clothing that is less than 4 tons will not be accepted.
You don’t have to donate to get clothes at this event. It is open to the public,

Farmer’s market planned for August 7th
Head to Downtown Plaza for the Stephenville Farmers Market on Saturday, August 7th, from 9am to 1pm.
Farmers’ markets are held every first Saturday of the month from May to November.
All interested sellers are encouraged to email Stephenville Main Street at smatai@stephenvilletx.gov or call (254)552-1225.
The desired / required products include fresh fruit / vegetables / herbs, coffee / tea, fresh meat (beef, chicken, pork), homemade foods (baked, in jars, canned, pickled, etc.), other homemade products (soaps, Oils, textiles, etc.) All products must be approved.

Song swap set for August 8th
A song swap with Walt Wilkins, hosted by Craig Clifford, co-editor of Pickers and Poets: The Ruthless Poetic Singer-Songwriters of Texas, is scheduled for Sunday August 8th at the Chapel on the Bosque in the Stephenville Historical House Museum. 525 E. Washington St.
Entry is at 3:00 p.m. and the event is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.
Enjoy craft beers from Thirsty Armadillos Brewing Club and local wines from local wineries.

Texas Health runs hip and knee replacement classes
Texas Health Stephenville will host a total hip and knee replacement course in the conference room every second Monday of the month from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. The next course is scheduled for Monday, August 9th.
The public is welcome to attend this educational course, which provides detailed information on what to expect before, during, and after joint replacement surgery. Topics include preparation for surgery, surgical expectations, pain management, aftercare, and physical therapy / rehab.

The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce is holding a celebration for Not Too Shabby’s new location on Tuesday, August 10th at 4:30 pm. Not Too Shabby is located at the Bosque River Center (by Stephenville Energy & Nutrition), 2900 W. Washington, Suite 71.
Not Too Shabby is an upscale consignment boutique selling clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and even home accessories.

Registration for the Fall Sports 2021 hosted by the Stephenville Parks and Rec Department is now open.
Registration for Youth Flag Football runs until August 11th. The season dates are from September 11th to October 11th. 30, for 5-12 years. The cost is $ 50 per participant.
Registration for youth volleyball runs until August 11th. The season dates are from September 11th to October 11th. 30, for 8-12 years. The cost is $ 50 per participant.

Vyve Broadband hosts Chamber MIX
A Chamber MIX, hosted by Vyve Broadband, is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th, 5-6pm at the Hearsay Wine Bar. The Hearsay Wine Bar is located at 270 W College St., right on Historic Downtown Square.
Littlejohn’s Produce takes care of the starters. There will also be hearsay wine and giveaways.

HowdyFest set for August 14th
Visit Howdy Enterprise at PAR Country Club, 1658 Hwy 2861, Comanche, on Saturday, August 14th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM for the second annual HowdyFest event.

United Way hosts annual fry
The Erath County United Way’s annual Fish Fry is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This year the fry will only pass through Newman Hall, 1444 W. Washington St..
The fish is prepared by the Knights of Columbus. Tickets are available from the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and all sponsoring banks.

See Dublin Rippers’ Quilt Exhibition
The Dublin Rippers quilt exhibition is back at the Tarleton Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery through August 20th.
Traditional and artistic quilts come from Dublin Rippers members Hazel Ashcraft, Peggy DeLaVergne and Suzann Thompson with guest quilter Elaine Fields Smith. The Rippers started out as a weekly bee where friends would gather to work and chat on their quilting projects. The pandemic prevented the group from meeting for over a year, which stopped most of the conversation but didn’t stop doing it.
Golf tournament to raise funds for all-inclusive playground
The very first fundraiser for the Trash to Treasure golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, September 17th in the Squaw Valley in Glen Rose.
The proceeds from the tournament will be used to build the very first all-inclusive playground in Stephenville City Park.
The cost of the game is $ 500 for a team of four players or $ 125 for a single player. Registration closes on August 26th.
The tournament is sponsored by the City of Stephenville Parks and Leisure Services and Waste Connections.
