“My husband and I always went to Austin. We packed up the kids and went to Austin and ate at Texadelphia. We did it a couple of times and thought, ‘You know what? here in San Antonio. ‘”
The opening of the 11255 Hübner Road location made sense for Marci Hughes and her husband Chad. They wanted the Alamo City to experience their love of authentic Philadelphia food.
“We love San Antonio. San Antonio is Military City USA. Since we’re a veteran owned company, I don’t think we could be in a better place,” said Hughes.
It’s a place that is said to have a lot of nostalgia for people who stop by.
“Usually it’s ‘Wow!’ and ‘That’s amazing!’ “said Hughes.
And of course we couldn’t come here and not ask about their favorite items.
“Our Amoroso roll is flown in from Philadelphia. And then we mix them with peppers, onions, mushrooms and top them off with this homemade cheese wiz, ”said Hughes.

“It’s a patty with a wonderful roll, a wonderful bun. And then of course we pour a heaping spoon of our wonderful queso on it. Our queso, our cheese, with all our dressings – they’re all homemade here in the restaurant, “said Hughes.
“Everything flown in from Philadelphia, mixed with onions, mushrooms, jalapenos and topped with our mustard mixture,” said Hughes. “Our mustard mix is probably our most popular sauce. Anyone who went to Texadelphia – they will know this sauce. It’s a kind of sweet, somehow spicy mustard. “
And when you take a seat, you know you are dining alongside music legends.
“When you come here, you know you’re getting a taste of small town Texas; all of the artwork was made by local Texan artists,” said Hughes. You’ll see artwork by George Strait, Elvis, and Michael Jackson.
