SAN ANTONIO – About a dozen San Antonio people turned up for John Lujan in Austin when he was sworn in in Texas House District 118.

He gave a short speech.

“It’s a big commitment and it’s a great honor and I really think so. Thank you for being here, ”said Lujan.

It’s a seat that has mostly been taken by Democrats lately – Lujan turned it over.

“That’s special for me, right. I think every person who does something historical is important, but I think people know me as a person, ”explained Lujan. “You know me – I run a football league, I am involved in our church, I have my family, we all grew up in the south of the city,” said Lujan.

For this reason, the Democrat Europe supported Saldivar Lujan.

“We don’t always agree on anything … because I’m a Democrat and usually have democratic views, but he’s always shown that he cares about this community and helps Southside,” said Saldivar.

She had the chance to get to know him on a personal level as they are both involved with the Southside Cardinals Youth Sports.

“He worked for the community as a firefighter. He’s a businessman, ”said Saldivar. “You have to know what the community is all about. Business plays a role in this, being part of the community contributes to it. ”

Lujan says it should come as no surprise that District 118 is upside down.

“Border problems and all the problems we have on the border. Gas prices are rising, all these problems we have and failing schools, ”Lujan said. “People say, ‘Man, enough is enough, we need something else.'”

Now that Seat is Lujan, for District 118 to thrive, it must meet the needs of both Republicans and Democrats.

“I will do what corresponds to the district, not so much the party,” said Lujan. “I’m going to have a lot of Democrats with me and a lot of Republicans upset with me, but I’ll make it to District 118. I don’t want to play that much. “This political game.”
