Governor Abbott Announces Smithville Music Friendly Community Workshop

Austin, TX Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Music Office (TMO), the City of Smithville, and the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce are jointly launching a Music Friendly Community on Tuesday, August 10th. Will host a workshop.

TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will be in attendance to explain the term Music Friendly Community and answer questions.

Participation in TMO’s Music Friendly Community program provides Texas communities with a network to promote the development of the music industry and sends a clear message to industry experts that certified communities are serious about attracting and developing the growth of the music industry. The Smithville workshop is the first step in the certification process. Upon completion, Smithville will join more than 20 other Texas cities that have received the coveted “Music Friendly” award.

“As we unleash the full power of the Texas economy, I look forward to continuing to work with community and business leaders in Smithville to ensure they have the knowledge and tools they need to be successful,” said Governor Abbott . “Music is a big part of the Texas brand and our local economy, and I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities large and small to strengthen creative partnerships and fuel new business growth.”
