Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation Breaks Ground on New Medical Cannabis Production Facility in Bastrop, Texas

Austin, Texas – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation (TOCC), Texas’s leading provider of medicinal cannabis, announced today that the groundbreaking ceremony has recently taken place for a new, state-of-the-art medical cannabis plant in Bastrop, Texas . When completed, the vertically integrated facility will serve growing patient demand for better access to medical cannabis in Texas as HB 1535 went into effect on September 1, 2021, expanding the state’s Compassionate Use Program (CUP).
Located on TOCC’s 25 acres in Bastrop County, the 96,000-square-foot facility will contain dedicated acreage for growing medicinal cannabis plants that will ultimately serve patients through the company’s full-service on-site pharmacy as well as through TOCC’s patient network will be collection points across the state. Construction on the project began in May 2021 and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022.

The facility will include a hybrid greenhouse for plant cultivation, production laboratories for extraction, processing and refinement, test laboratories, packaging, dispensing, distribution and delivery logistics as well as offices for administrative activities. The hybrid greenhouse allows TOCC to harness Texas sunlight while complying with state restrictions that restrict licensed medicinal cannabis production to indoor use only. TOCC anticipates the facility will soon add hundreds of jobs to Bastrop County.
