Texas Women’s Hall Of Fame Honorees For 2020–2021

Austin, TX (STL.News) Governor Greg Abbott and the Governor’s Commission for Women announced today that six exceptional Texas women, recognized for excellence in their fields and for changing the course of history, are eligible for membership Texas Women’s Hall of Fame were selected.

“The Texas Women’s Hall of Fame recognizes and recognizes remarkable Texas women not only for their individual achievements, but also for their contribution to an even stronger Texas of tomorrow. “Each of the honorees is recognized as a trailblazer, an inspiration for the next generation of leaders who will follow in their footsteps in business, education, military service, philanthropy, public service, the arts and more. The First Lady and I thank each of these distinguished award winners for their leadership and continued contribution to this great state. “

The 2020-2021 Texas Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, hosted by Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott, will take place on November 4, 2021 at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.

The 2020-2021 Texas Women’s Hall of Fame winners are:

• Lauren Anderson (Arts) – Recognizing her cross-border and outstanding artistic achievements in the world of ballet and her generosity in inspiring children to reach for the stars.

• Charlye Ola Farris (Legal Profession) – Recognizing her pioneering role and 56 years of practice as a lawyer, she paves the way for others by overcoming adversity with dignity and perseverance.

• Dawn Ferrell, Major General (Retired), USAF (Military Service) – Recognizing her exemplary leadership and significant contribution to our state and our nation in both military service and higher education.

• Kendra Scott (Business) – Recognizing her exceptional entrepreneurship, remarkable corporate governance, and passionate philanthropy in supporting the causes of women and children.

• Elaine Stolte (Community Service) – Recognizing her decades of service and national leadership as a tireless advocate who brings healing and gives voice to children who have survived sexual abuse.

• Ofelia Vasquez-Philo (Civic Leadership) – Recognizing her legacy of community service and pioneering leadership in support of civil rights and the preservation of Hispanic art, culture and heritage.

About the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame: Founded in 1984 by the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women, the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of Texas women, nominated by Texans every two years and selected by an independent jury. The new additions include former first ladies, astronauts, entrepreneurs, civil servants, Olympians and other women with significant achievements. A permanent exhibition is housed at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and is currently showing the biographies and photographs of all award winners.
