Tiny Texas cottage hatches honor for ‘most hospitable’ Airbnb host

A tiny cottage in Austin is home to the best Airbnb host in Texas.
In July, Airbnb released a list of the most “hospitable” hosts in each state. The Austin hosting duo of Jay and Jayne C. (no last name) grabbed # 1 spot in Texas.
To deserve this honor, Jay and Jayne had to:
-
Achieve 100 percent five-star ratings in the categories of cleanliness, check-in, and communication.
-
Attract at least 100 reviews. (A recent census found the Coop surpassed 360 ratings, ranking fourth highest among Airbnb hotels in the U.S.)
-
Get the most reviews in Texas.
“When Jayne was informed of this award, she informed us that her high standards of cleaning had been passed on from her father, who owned a cleaning products company. As a result, they now employ an excellent cleaner who is just as picky as they are, ”Airbnb said in a press release.
Jay and Jayne welcome Airbnb guests to their Chicken Coop Tiny Cottage. The cottage, about eight miles north of downtown in North Central Austin, is a tiny space indeed; it measures only 160 square meters. While the cottage (which actually doesn’t have any chickens) may be small, the Airbnb list is big on puns.
According to the listing, the cottage’s chicken decor “makes for a peaceful nest to sleep in,” while the serene courtyard and flowers “provide an egg-filled place to relax after a long day of pecking in Austin.”
“Get up with the chickens (or not!) And enjoy hot coffee or tea in the privacy of your own little stall,” the listing says.
In memory of their guests, Jay and Jayne painted a mural on the back of the cottage for guests to leave their signatures and travel dates.
The couple try to “think ahead by providing everything someone might need or forget while traveling – from a toothbrush and bug spray to soft drinks and bedside chocolates,” says Airbnb.
