Weekend fun includes Jackson Community Celebration and 720 Market

Celebration of the Jackson Community

The Jackson Community Celebration began Wednesday and continues through Saturday in Jackson Township North Park at 7660 Fulton Drive NW.

Carnival rides are operated by Bates Brothers Amusement Co.

Live music is also played at the Jackson Amphitheater at 7454 Community Parkway NW. Entry is free and no tickets are required.

Disco Inferno performs on Thursday at 8pm; Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Bluewater Kings Band will perform on Friday at 6 p.m. at the same location as part of the celebration. The Vindys will perform at the Jackson Amphitheater on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Ricky Lee & the Mustangs will perform in Faircrest Park on Saturday at 7 p.m. as part of Canton Township Community Day.

Canton Township Community Day is on Saturdays at 5 p.m. in Faircrest Park at 1001 Faircrest St. SW.

The Canton South Alumni Band performs at 5:10 p.m. Ricky Lee & the Mustangs perform at 7pm

At around 10:00 p.m. there is a fireworks display that lasts 25 to 30 minutes.

The grocery vendors open at 4:00 p.m. A free shuttle service will bring people from Faircrest Memorial Middle School to the event.

FreedomFest in green

The FreedomFest will take place on Saturday from 12:00 to 23:00 in Boettler Park at 5300 Massillon Road in Green.

The community festival opens the holiday season on July 4th.

Family activities, food stalls, and live music are catered for. Activities include zip lines and mini golf. Entertainment also includes skydivers at 8:15 p.m. and fireworks at 10:15 p.m.

Admission is free and parking spaces are available in Boettler Park and in various parking lots along the International Parkway.

Donations of school supplies are accepted as a ticket to the event in favor of Green Good Neighbors as part of the Back-to-School Drive.

Accepted items include pens, pencils, colored pencils, three-pronged pocket binders, college and wide line spiral notebooks, college and wide line loose leaf paper, pink erasers, glue sticks, glue bottles, and plastic pencil boxes.

Downtown North Canton's 720 Saturday Market features vendors and food on St. Paul's Community Lot and North Canton Town Square.

720 market

The 720 Market runs on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northern canton.

The market features vendors, food and entertainment on St. Paul’s Community Lot and North Canton Town Square.

This will be the last 720 market through December.

However, 720 Market organizers will host Sidestreet MKTS in Oakwood Square at 2610 Easton St. NE in Plain Township on the first Saturday of the month through October from 10am to 3pm.

Sidestreet MKTS offers food trucks and dealers who sell baked goods, jewelry and items from the fields of home and garden, health and wellness, and handicrafts.

Around 90 vendors will be in the 720 market on Saturday, including those selling groceries, baked goods, clothing, flowers, lemonade, arts, crafts, and jewelry.

HiHO Brewing Co. from Cuyahoga Falls will be featured at the 720 Market on Saturday.

Johnny Cash tribute in Minerva

Cash4Life, a Johnny Cash tribute band from Pittsburgh, will perform on the stage of Minerva’s Municipal Park on Saturday at 7pm.

Cash4Life with Minerva’s own Connor Freeland, Brad Bendis, Jack Breiding and Wil Kondrich presents music from Cash’s entire career.

The public is asked to bring chairs and blankets for the concert in the City Park on Preston Street, next to Minerva High School.

A tribute show by Sonny and Cher will be held at the Lions Lincoln Theater in Massillon on Saturday.  Tickets are $ 20 to $ 30 and can be ordered at the box office at (330) 481-9105 or on the Lincoln Theater website.

A Sonny and Cher tribute show will be held on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lions Lincoln Theater on Lincoln Way E 156 in Massillon.

Comedy skits and a live band underline the tribute show presented by Starlight Entertainment.

Alyssa Whiddon will play Cher and Mark Adkins will play Sonny Bono. He also directs the performance.

The band Sonny and Cher consists of Steve Dallas on keyboards, Mick Shaull on drums, Steve Miller on guitar, George Lee on bass and Brian Harrison on horns. Austin Flask is the technical director.

Bret Kuhnash will perform on Friday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Grapes in a Glass in downtown Canton.

Nate Lupine will perform acoustically on Saturday from 8pm to 11pm in Grapes in a Glass.

Grapes in a Glass also hosts a wine tasting on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. Mary Taylor European wines are presented.

Five wine tastings are $ 15 with free entrees.

Music and art in Umbrella Alley

“Unplugged in Umbrella Alley” is on Saturdays from 7pm to 9pm in downtown Louisville.

The event, sponsored by ArtsinStark, features live music and art.

The series “Unplugged in Umbrella Alley” ends on Saturday with Robin Roseberry, Lucas Schreffler and Julian Curet, while Iris Menegay paints.
