Thanks to the hard work of Cahor winemakers like Philippe Bernède at Clos La Coutale, the world is starting to taste what locals have always enjoyed, an affordable wine that is perfectly drinkable even at a young age.
If you’ve enjoyed Argentinian Malbecs or US Merlots, this wine should give you an idea of why wine freaks are crazy about European wines. This wine is fruity enough to tame the dusty tannins. On the other hand, for any of you who are looking to age a bottle to see how it tastes in a couple of years or a couple of decades, Coutale has enough grip to give the wine what it takes to age gracefully to become. Try every type of grilled beef, from burgers to ribeyes, or try a homemade traditional cassoulet for a glimpse of the perfection in combining wine and food.
