TAYLOR, Texas (Austin Business Journal) – It’s been nine months since Taylor, northeast of Austin, was first mentioned as a potential landing site for Samsung’s $ 17 billion semiconductor plant.

With the city’s growing momentum in the direction of the company that chooses the city, residents and business owners alike are teeming with excitement – and some concern – at the prospect of Taylor regaining its place as a key cog in central Texas’s economy.

Like Taylor, Williamson County is trying to win the coveted spot of Samsung’s next chip factory

Even without Samsung, there have been signs of economic activity in recent years.

With Austin’s rapid growth, more and more people are moving to the suburbs. Long-neglected buildings in the modest inner city are being revitalized into restaurants, breweries and cafes. The city has improved parks, streets, schools and ultimately the quality of life.

But the inclusion of Samsung would be the biggest sign yet.
