Wine, music festival at Long Center requiring proof of negative COVID-19 test from all guests

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Thousands of people are expected to attend a two-day Long Center wine, food and music festival that began Friday at the Long Center, despite recently canceled and denied permits in other major Austin events.
The Pecan Street Festival, which was scheduled for September 18-19, was denied permission by the city of Austin, according to the organizers. The same thing happened last month at Bat Fest 2021, which was denied approval the week the event was supposed to take place.

So why is the blended Austin event allowed to continue?
The Austin Center for Events has informed KXAN that for events with 100 or more attendees at the Long Center, you do not need special event permits because it is not a city-run facility.
However, the Blended Austin team has its own set of requirements for the participants.
To gain entry, attendees at the first Blended Austin event were required to demonstrate a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event.

“The Blended team made sure it was following the city of Austin COVID-19 protocols, including a requirement that all guests submit a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event,” the Blended said -Team told KXAN in a statement.
The city of Austin changed its requirements for large outdoor events with more than 2,500 attendees in late August, stating that they must now require all attendees to test negative for COVID-19 regardless of vaccination status.

Blended Austin has partnered with the Clear Health Pass to make the entry process easier. Ticket holders had to download and fill out a health survey via the app upon entry.
And for those who couldn’t get a test in advance or decided against it, the festival offered on-site fast COVID-19 testing services for $ 30.
The Long Center introduced stricter mask rules from September 3rd. According to his website, masks are also required outdoors when not eating or drinking. This is a requirement that the Blended Team also follows.
The blended Austin event continues on Saturday.
