Eat healthy and still have fun? Yes, it’s actually possible now in the heart of downtown Austin. The fountain, the new concept from Nova Hospitality, has opened new dining room a full evening menu and a “better-for-you” drinks program. Located in Austin’s Second Street District, The Well offers a menu courtesy of the dynamic culinary duo of Chief Jon Oh and Nutritionist Liv Langdon. Highlights include main courses like fried sea bass, Texas Wagyu steak, and half chicken tagine with tomato sofrito and eggplant. When it comes to drinks, guests can look forward to unique offers such as Majik Matcha (mezcal, Blue Majik Spirulina, Matcha tea and raw organic honey) and a Keto Old-Fashioned with bone broth fat, washed bourbon and Medjool dates. The Well dining room is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for reservations and walk-ins. The happy hour runs from Tuesday to Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and includes half-price offers on all alcoholic beverages and bottled wines.

One of the city’s most popular high-carb hangouts does more than brew great beer. Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches. A new food truck led by chefs is now open in the popular East Side Hang beer garden Carrie Legner and Laura Connolly, a duo previously known for their upscale catering services at home, Food for Thought. About your new food truck concept send, the couple serves an eclectic mix of Mexican and Cajun dishes to suit every palate. Offerings include mulitas, crispy corn tortillas filled with melted Monterey cheese; Blue Bossa, local buttermilk fried green tomatoes in crispy blue cornmeal from Barton Springs Mill; and Cajun elotes, grilled corn with tartar sauce and Cotija cheese – all are designed to go well with Batch’s wide range of beers. Envie is open daily from 4pm to 10pm and is located on 3220 Manor Road in the Batch beer garden.

Dripping Springs: an idyllic stretch of Texas Hill Country home to some of the best wines, ales, and burritos in the state? Yes, Freebirds World Burrito has finally arrived in dripping. The brand new burrito and bowl slinging location is slated to open this winter in the Shops at Ledge Stone. Although an official opening date has not yet been announced, Freebirds will host a public opening ceremony with free rehearsals and specials on a date to be announced shortly. To toss meaty burritos, tacos and gallons of golden queso, Freebirds is looking for more than 40 employees in the new Dripping Springs restaurant. After more than a decade of building one of the most influential culinary non-profit organizations in the state is the head of the Austin-based company Texas Food & Wine Alliance continues. TFWA announced on August 6 that Founding Managing Director Mariam Parker will be leaving her role and moving to Chicago this fall. Gina Burchenal, a founding member of Allianz and a former CEO, will act as interim managing director until a successor can be found, according to the organization. The company recently launched its text-to-order program, offering customers who order by text message to any of three locations in Austin a 20 percent discount on pizza at the menu price. Using the same local number that customers would call to place an order, they can text their order, choose pickup or delivery, provide payment information, and ask basic questions. Get ready, vegetable heads. Hopdaddy burger bar, one of Austin’s favorite places for a great burger and fries, goes where it’s never been before: Beyond meat. Starting this month, all Hopdoddy locations will switch to the Beyond Burger as their exclusive plant-based burger offer and celebrate the occasion with the August burger of the month – Beyond a Ruben – a Beyond burger patty with pastrami-flavored mushrooms, Gruyère cheese, Dijon mustard, sauerkraut, cucumber and Russian dressing on a freshly baked caraway seed roll. With this introduction, Hopdoddy is one of the first restaurant groups to offer the new meatier and juicier Beyond Burger, the latest version of the popular Beyond Burger.
