Taste of Chicago To-Go Returns This Week With Full Schedule of Events – NBC Chicago

Taste of Chicago To-Go returns this week with music, dance, and food events across the city.

The weeklong summer event, July 7-11, includes nearly 40 participating restaurants, cooking demonstrations, community eats meals for local nonprofits, and pop-up musical performances at participating restaurants across town with artists from the Chicago band Roster.

On Wednesday July 7th, Chicago residents and visitors alike can visit the Pullman City Market at 11100 S. Cottage Grove Ave. visit from 10 a.m. Opening day features food trucks and vendors like Chicago’s Doghouse, Ms.Tittles Cupcakes, Tatas Tacos, and more.

You can also take part in various 30-minute dance lessons and enjoy sets by DJ Mwelwa. Also on Wednesday, guests can get cheesecake from an Eli’s Cheesecake Cake Slicer and purchase from the Get Growing Foundation’s Plant Truck Chicago, a mobile service that brings greenery to Chicago residents, especially those who are underserved.

On Thursday July 8th Austin Town Hall City Market at 5610 W. Lake St. will be home to food vendors, food trucks, and Chicago city market vendors starting at noon. Free music starts from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Get Growing Foundation’s Plant Truck Chicago will host a free DIY terrarium workshop.

On Friday July 9th, Puerto Rican food, coffee and storytelling are available at ¡WEPA! Mercado del Pueblo at 2559 W. Division St. from 4 p.m. Boricua author Marisel Vera will be presented during the event. From 5pm to 8pm, Goose Island Brewery’s Tap Room offers Goose Island beers and a Taste of Chicago pint, only available that evening.

On Saturday July 10th, Chicago To-Go will expand to three separate locations. In The Hatchery on N. Kedzie Ave. 135 offers “Taste of the West Side” from 10am live music, food demos, local shops and an art installation. Separately at Eli’s Cheesecake Company at 6701 W. Forest Preserve Dr. , Eli’s Cheesecake and Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs will jointly offer cheesecake specialties, a selection of ribs and live music. Later at 1:00 p.m. in the West Englewood community at 6300 S. Wood St., guests can shop for groceries at local restaurants, visit the beer garden, and relax in dining tents while enjoying local DJs, musicians, and dancers. There will also be activities for the children.

On Sunday July 11th, Let’s Talk Women Picnic in White in Millennium Park concludes the five-day event. The picnic starts at noon and features girl power music, performers, and interviews with Chicago’s leading restaurant owners and businesswomen with pre-ordered picnic meals and drinks.
