Due to ongoing pandemic concerns, the Austin Chapter of the American Institute for Architects will celebrate its 35th anniversary AIA Austin Homes Tour in a hybrid format of face-to-face and virtual visits, showcasing nine modern homes designed by well-known local architectural firms – three of these homes offer personal tours and the rest are viewed online including “3D virtual tours, floor plans, videos and “Live meetings with architects and selected design staff”, per AIA.

Tickets are available for the online tours, the hybrid online in-person experience and a VIP package that also includes access to an opening party and a swag bag. The tours are offered between Friday October 15th to Monday October 18th.
Highlights of this year’s tour include the North Arrow Studio home, which blends effortlessly into a steep slope; Homes Reinventing the Relationship Between Private and Public Spaces by Clark Richardson Architects and Matt Fajkus Architecture; historic renovations by LaRue Architects, Furman + Keil Architects, and Brian Dillard Architecture; New buildings by Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects and Lake Flato Architects; and a home that combines sustainability and style from Webber + Studio Architects.
– AIA Austin Homes Tour 2021
Unlike some other recent tours that give higher-density residential real estate in the inner city a chance, the AIA event focuses entirely on single-family homes, which may not completely capture the hearts of our condominium-inclined readers – but the ones Tour provides an opportunity to see high-end residences that you might otherwise never experience, and the combination of new build and preservation architecture included in the lineup is an excursion for any design enthusiast.
