There are so many great places to live in Austin that having an expert by your side helps. The neighborhood guide presented by Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty gives you insider access to the agents living and working there and provides you with in-depth information about your potential new community.

There’s a special atmosphere in 78757, the area that includes Allandale, Brentwood and Crestview. “The best word to describe it is ‘original,'” says Broker Associate Patty Johns, a current resident who also grew up in the area.

“The area feels like home,” she continues. “I was drawn to the beautiful tree-lined streets and the friendly neighbors who wave to their daily walks. I can cycle 45 kilometers without ever leaving the area and I am always peaceful yet full of life on a bike path or a non-motorized path. “

Together with the locals, newcomers enjoy the carefree, nature-loving atmosphere of the district. There are several established restaurants, shops, and tavernas that have their regulars but also welcome beginners.

“Whether it’s bingo at Ginny’s Little Longhorn or a picnic in Brentwood or Northwest Park and Pool, there’s something for all ages at 78757,” says Johns.

Johns, a well known real estate agent at Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, has sold well over 70 homes in the area. And the competition is fierce, as many houses are still inhabited by their original owners or have been passed down through generations.

She names the charming houses from the 1930s as well as new buildings that bring a touch of modernity to the neighborhood as major attractions for buyers. The massive, beautiful trees add character and the courtyards are some of the largest in the city.

“As a native of Austria, I know this area like the back of my hand,” she says. “It’s part of Austin’s urban core and what makes Austin Austin.”

Every year there are many events in 78757: the pumpkin patch in autumn, candy canes during the holidays, many flea markets in the whole neighborhood, the Violet Crown Festival and much more. When summer rolls in, Allandale has one of the biggest July 4th parades. “I’ve also seen a few city marathons run around the area over the years,” notes Johns.

The districts are only six to ten kilometers away from the center of the city, which is also easy to reach by bike. Crestview and Brentwood were originally dairy and cotton farming areas, and most of the owners still enjoy gardening and backyard chickens. “Allandale has the same original builders as Tarrytown and Brykerwoods, so you’ll find similar building features,” says Johns.

Johns introduced some of her personal favorites about life to 78757. Here is her guide to the area:
