Austin: Restaurant Property to be Renovated Into Mixed-Use Condo Project

Austin (Travis County) – A local businessman received a rededication at the planning committee meeting last week to convert his restaurant into a mixed-use project.
Mixed Use (MU) has been added to the Commercial Services Zoning (CS-MU) on the 1.18 hectare property on which Amaya’s Taco Village.
The property was also given a future land use designation that reflected the zoning. It is located at 5804 N. Interstate 35 on the north side of Frontage Road Highland Mall Station Leisure Center.
Roberto Amaya, Carrying out this rehabilitation as part of the entity R. Felix Inc., plans to build a new restaurant on the ground floor and 70 condominiums above. The units would be between 600 and 1,200 square feet.

The project name is Amaya construction project.
Andrew Logan with Logan architecture announced to the local neighborhood during a public meeting on Aug. 25 that the building’s height on the project is 60 feet.
He said the goal of the project is to combine the project’s Spanish heritage with the restaurant, but in a unique Austin style.
The design concept shows a five-story apartment building with structured parking in the rear area and the restaurant on the ground floor on the corner.
Logan added that the building will have an L-shaped configuration on the ground floor and parking spaces stacked on two other levels at the rear of the property. There may be a small retail space for a second shop.
The site plan shows an inner courtyard, a pond with water quality, a 7,690 square meter retail / restaurant, 73,962 square meters of multi-family space, a pool and pool deck, and 149 parking spaces.

The city council is expected to vote on the recommendation at its December 9th session.
