Recently named Austin’s Master-Planned Community of the Year at the MAX Awards 2021. Whisper Valley in East Austin celebrates the opening of its new Model Home Park with the annual Whisper Valley 5K run and festival on Saturday, September 18, 8-11am.

The timed Fun Run takes runners through the newest stage in the community, Whisper Highlands, and also features a farmers market with local vendors, the El Xolo Tacos Food Truck, raffle prizes, and a free 7pm concert with The Voice finalist Jordan Matthew Jung.

Bonus: The 5K is dog and stroller friendly. Early registration is now open and costs just $ 25 per runner. Each participant receives a finisher medal, a T-shirt, a swagbag and the chance to win prizes in a raffle.

Proceeds from the event will benefit FarmShare Austin, a 501c3 organization that is accelerating organic farming knowledge to expand access to organic food in central Texas. To sign up for the 5K, visit WhisperValleyEvent.com.

If you are new to Whisper Valley, there is a lot to impress. It won the Master-Planned Community of the Year award at the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin annual MAX Awards in June.

A panel of judges from real estate markets across the country selected Whisper Valley for the highest honor, recognizing the innovation and impact this sustainable development is likely to have on future master plan communities as it is the first large-scale, sustainable master plan community in the nation.

Located east of the SH-130 Toll Road and 25 minutes from downtown Austin, Whisper Valley offers energy-free homes and eco-friendly lifestyle amenities. Builders include Pacesetter Homes, GFO Home, Terrata Homes, AHA Dream Homes, and Thurman Homes, with new homes starting in the upper $ 300 to $ 600 range. Show houses are open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Whisper Valley is making sustainable living affordable thanks to the EcoSmart Solution, an innovative green power provider currently only found in this unique Austin community.

Each home is connected to the revolutionary GeoGrid, or geothermal energy supply system, which is pre-installed with the rest of the community’s infrastructure. A geothermal heat pump, which is located in every house, supplies heating or cooling as required and reduces energy consumption by around 65 percent.

Coupled with solar PV, smart home technology and energy-saving household appliances, the EcoSmart solution enables energy-efficient living and helps homeowners achieve average electricity savings of $ 1,250 or more per year, depending on their personal energy behavior.

All 7,500 single and multi-family homes planned for Whisper Valley will be zero energy enabled, which EcoSmart defines as a home with an HERS rating of 25 or below. Whisper Valley homes typically have an HERS rating between 16 and 20, which is an amazing energy efficiency rating.

Whisper Valley also recently introduced an optional Power Resiliency Package into its EcoSmart Solution program. The Power Resiliency Package combines a battery with solar PV in Whisper Valley homes to work with the local grid to store excess energy and optimize its use for stability in the event of a grid outage or blackout.

Green living goes beyond home in the Whisper Valley. The community showcases 700 acres of green space, parks, and amenities such as hiking trails, a resort pool, fitness facilities, a dog park, and lifestyle programs. The organic gardens on site are managed by the community farmer.

Future amenities will include a 600 acre public park, retail and commercial space, two school locations, a planned transportation hub, and a fire station.
