AUSTIN, Texas – At 135, even the best of us need a makeover from time to time.

That was the case with Austin’s iconic and legendary hotel The Driskill. The downtown hotel recently renovated 14 of its guest suites on the historic side of the hotel. The renovation highlights individual personalities for each unique space and the effort was led by Texas architectural firm Clayton Korte.

The makeover focused on the functionality of the space in the rooms, as well as improving the “quirky” features already there, according to a press release announcing the upgrade.

This includes new furnishings such as claw-foot bathtubs, walk-in showers and the conversion of historical works of art and the updating of bathroom furnishings.

The Driskill is located at 604 Brazos St. with a total of 189 guest rooms and unique suites and has renovated its hotel rooms for the first time since 1998. The goal of the hotel for these renovations was to create a luxurious and vibrant ambience while preserving its historical past.

“Throughout history, The Driskill has been a legendary milestone in Texas hospitality,” said Chris Collins, general manager of The Driskill. “We are excited to invite Texans and visitors alike to the newly updated suites, which have been modernized for maximum comfort but still retain the same historic charm with their own personality.”

The renovation of the remaining 175 rooms in the hotel is scheduled to begin in September 2022. Then the Driskill Bar will also be renovated.

Currently, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s package deals to enhance their experience while staying at The Driskill.
