Bennifer 2.0 is coming to Austin folks. According to TMZ, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have rented “a luxury apartment” in the capital, where Affleck will shoot the new Robert Rodriguez film.
The elder Affleck will be in Texas to direct Hypnotic, the latest film from Austin-based director Rodriguez. Filming is scheduled to begin on September 20th. “The action thriller will follow a detective caught up in a secret about his missing daughter and a secret government program while investigating a number of high-end crimes,” writes Deadline of what appears to be Ben Affleck’s greatest Ben Affleck. According to an insider source, TMZ says Lopez won’t be in town all day but will perform occasionally. The couple, who reunited this spring after nearly two decades, will be able to partake in some of their famous antics, but with an Austin twist.
For example, we don’t have yachts (they don’t allow motorized boats on Lady Bird Lake), but we have plenty of kayaks and paddleboards to recreate that famous scene from the “Jenny From the Block” video. We don’t have Nobu, but Suerte’s rather popular chef Fermin Nunez was recently named Best New Chef by Food & Wine. The city just got a Soho House too (though it’s still cooler to go to St. Cecilia). We also have lots of gas stations and vintage cars, both things Bennifer seems to love.
The gossip page contains few other details about their rendezvous in Texas, though it looks like Austin’s contact with the ultimate A-lists won’t last forever. According to TMZ, Lopez is aiming for an 85 million dollar Beverly Hills estate for the couple.
