Blue Santa making Christmas wishes come true | Lifestyle

El Campo Police and Croix Wealth Management have teamed up to bring Operation Blue Santa to El Campo.
Blue Santa began distributing toys and food from the back of patrol cars to families they knew were in need during the holiday season in Austin in 1972. The Austin Police Department has grown from just 20 families a year to over 5,000 families. In the years since, other Texas law enforcement agencies have made it their business to hold Christmas for those who otherwise might not have much to celebrate, and Operation Blue Santa has spread across the state, coming to El Campo to do that Christmas festival 2021 to strengthen the season for families in our city.
“El Campo is a giving community in many ways,” said JJ Croix.
Every year, Croix tries to work with and support a worthy community organization to improve the holidays for the community’s children. They hope the partnership with the ECPD will continue and Blue Santa will bless the families in El Campo for years to come, Croix said.
“I’m already counting this first year as a success and I’m excited to see Blue Santa become a tradition for the ECPD and the community,” said Lieutenant Justin Soza. “We can build something great out of it.”
“It’s really about putting the police in a positive position to forge relationships in the community.” Croix said he believed it would pay off for the El Campo children to see the police in a positive light.
“We’re stuck together. We (the police) also raise our children here. In this way we give something back to the community, ”said Soza.
Donations can be made in person this weekend at Croix Wealth Management, 601 E. Jackson or ECPD in the form of Visa gift cards. Donations of money and checks can be made to the El Campo Police Department. All monetary donations are matched by Croix Wealth Management, up to $ 5,000.
