(WEHT) – Earlier this week, the CDC announced that fresh whole onions were the cause of a salmonella outbreak that spanned 37 states in the United States and was published by ProSource Inc.
The company imported the onions from Chihuahua, Mexico, and distributed them to restaurants and grocery stores in the United States. The possibly spoiled onions were last imported on August 27, according to ProSource, but due to the vegetable’s long shelf life, they may still be on store shelves.

Two more onion recalls have now been announced. The FDA is urging people to throw away all HelloFresh and EveryPlate onions that they received from July 7th through September 8th. The companies say they have been informed by one of their suppliers that they are voluntarily recalling onions because of potential salmonella.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are still investigating the statewide salmonella outbreak associated with onions from Mexico. More than 600 people are reported to have been infected; nobody died.
