The popular burrito joint Freebirds World Burrito will soon open a new location in Katy. On August 30th, NewQuest Properties announced that Freebirds had rented space at the Stableside Shopping Center near Gaston Road and Falcon Landing Boulevard.
Known for its affordable menu and fast service, Freebirds has won Nations Restaurant News’ Cveable ranking for two years in a row, said Greg Stanislawski, Freebirds press secretary.
With an expected opening date in the spring of 2022, the restaurant will occupy a 2,526-square-foot building at the gateway to Stableside’s communal green spaces.
Freebirds will join several local restaurants in Stableside, including Crust Pizza Co., Jax Grill, Union Kitchen, Island Fin Poke, Block House Coffee & Kitchen, Sonoma Wine & Cheese, and Nekter Juice Bar.
“Stableside’s strong demographics are a draw for the top-notch restaurants we’ve secured,” said Grace La, associate at NewQuest.
Stableside also features the children’s Play Street Museum retail stores and the Petite Re Modern Child clothing store. The venue hosts a farmers market and live music in the green space every week.
“Freebirds completes the tenant mix we have curated and will bring another offer to the project,” said La. “While word gets around, we’re already getting a lot of positive feedback from the community.”
Freebirds announced plans to double their size in Texas within five years earlier this year, said Connie Gore, Newquest’s media officer. The 65-unit chain started in California in 1987 and relocated its headquarters to Austin in 2016.
“Freebirds have adopted Texas as their new home,” said La. “We wanted to bring another urban lifestyle element to our suburban centers.”
