SANTA CLARA, California., Oct 12, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Invenio Imaging is proud to announce the 2000th case of the NIO Laser Imaging System, which uses stimulated Raman histology to provide microscopic images of fresh tissue samples in minutes. NOK images can be digitally shared for immediate review by pathology, enabling closer collaboration between surgery and pathology.

“As neurosurgeons, we have many tools at our disposal to assess tissue and control complex interventions. However, none of these technologies are as accurate as gold standard tissue histology. With the NIO Laser Imaging System, it is possible for the first time to quickly access cell information at the time of surgery and make more informed surgical decisions, “said Dr. Dan Orringer, Neurosurgeon.
“Stimulated Raman histology has the potential to revolutionize digital pathology as it gives us the ability to view cellular features and architecture in real time and provide instant feedback to our colleagues in surgery,” said Dr. Matija Snuderl, pathologist.
“I still vividly remember the first case in Dr. Orringer in 2015 with the instrument that would become the NIO Laser Imaging System, ”said Chris Freudiger, PhD, Co-Founder and CTO of Invenio Imaging: “This system is used in hospitals in the US and Europe is an exciting story of clinical translation. I would like to personally thank everyone who believed in the venture in the early stages of commercialization.
“It has been a pleasure to work with all of the surgeons and pathologists who use the NIO and to help them deliver the best possible care to their patients,” said Jay Trautmann, PhD, Co-Founder and CEO of Invenio Imaging: “We are pleased to expand the application to other areas of surgical oncology.”
Invenio will be present at the upcoming satellite symposium of the tumor section of the Congress of Neurosurgery, 15.-16. October, and the Annual Meeting of the Congress of Neurosurgery, 18.-20. October, both in Austin, Texas.
