Dessert lovers, get ready for the ultimate sweet treat: the only Museum of Ice Cream lands in Austin this month. After sold-out stations in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Singapore, the OG of IG-worthy exhibitions will debut at The Domain on Saturday, August 21. This is the first new location for the brand in two years and proof of that is the pudding-like sign that life in the Lone Star State is deliciously back to normal. “With Austin’s love of great food, experiences, art and its inclusiveness and welcoming culture, we couldn’t think of a better place for MOIC to continue the journey,” says co-founder Maryellis Bunn.

The attraction will feature 12 reimagined, unprecedented installations dedicated to the popular creamy treat, all of which are of course very camera-friendly (some aren’t just friendly, they’re direct flirtatious). The star of the show is a huge pool filled with sprinkles that influencers have been drooling into for a long time. However, it is not about edibles – the “sprinkles” are made of plastic and, above all, environmentally friendly: “In the last three years, the pools have been filled with antimicrobial, biodegradable material,” assures co-founder Manish Vora. “In addition, the sprinkles are big so they don’t leave the building.”

Additionally, the Austin edition is special in that guests can reserve a poolside cabana for the day. And since every apartment in the city has a pool, it makes perfect sense to swap water for artificial sprinklers for a sunny afternoon – this is where Austinites feel most comfortable.

Another exciting addition is the Museum of Modern Ice Cream Installation (referred to as “MOMI”), where guests can admire classic works of art in ice cream as well as create their own masterpieces. As Maryellis explains, “MOIC was created to be an immersive experience that engages all five senses. As soon as you enter MOIC you can see what it is like to be a transport vehicle for everyone’s imagination. It is really something special for us to see how people of all ages enjoy the experience. “

Let’s talk about ice now. Two ticket options are available: a day experience with five sweet treats along the route ($ 39) and an adult-only museum night serving the same amount of scoops but with optional versions with spikes ($ 49). . While five servings is sufficient for most, those looking for an even higher sugar high can dive into the cafe too. “We’ll have a full-service cafe and bar filled with specialty cocktails, milkshakes, and Texas-inspired treats. Menu items include Shirley Temple-flavored ice cream, pet biscuit milkshakes, and ranch water with a MOIC touch, ”says Manish, adding that animal lovers shouldn’t have to worry. “There will also be vegan and allergen alternatives.”

In terms of the community, the team has launched a program that benefits locals who join the company. “We are committed to making MOIC an inclusive experience for everyone,” says Maryellis. “By working with local nonprofits and community organizations to remove barriers to entry, we can give back in more ways than one, starting with sharing our love for ice cream.”

The Ice Cream Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Advance booking tickets can be purchased online for reservations from August 21st.
