AUSTIN, Texas – A mural with a message will be unveiled Saturday afternoon.

Austin artist and community art advocate Jonathan “J” Muzac’s mural is located at the Wheatsville Food Co-op location on Guadalupe Street.

It shows three women cocoa farmers and is part of an effort to raise awareness of poverty among farming communities around the world.

One of three murals in three cities – Austin Tacoma / Seattle and Minneapolis – is part of Fairtrade America’s second annual Fairtrade Month campaign.

“Many farmers and workers around the world live on less than $ 2 a day,” the Wheatsville Food Co-op said in a press release on Saturday. “Fairtrade breaks up the systems that keep farmers trapped in cycles of poverty by addressing them to their core – the price.”

The mural will be officially unveiled on Saturday at 1 p.m.
