  • News and lifestyle site InsideHook named San Antonio’s Up Scale one of the top five restaurants to open this fall.

The Southtown Up Scale caught the attention of news and lifestyle site InsideHook, which named the seafood restaurant one of the “five must-know spots” to open in Texas this fall.

Austin, Dallas, Katy, and Houston restaurants rounded out the list, suggesting that Up Scale “is a welcome gourmet option in Southtown, complete with large plates and matching wines.”

The restaurateurs’ new business behind Little Em’s oyster joint, Emily and Houston Carpenter, opened late last month. It serves seafood, steaks and craft cocktails in a sophisticated atmosphere.

InsideHook recommends the Dover sole, homemade tagliolini with lobster and black truffle, and the 60-day dry-aged tomahawk steak, which is said to be big enough to share with a date.

Up Scale is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and offers Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is located at 1024 S. Alamo St., in the former Feast.
