FORT WORTH, Texas – Imagine learning a new language, sketching, or improving your interior design skills by the time you arrive at your destination. Starting June 1st, American Airlines will offer its customers more entertainment options to enhance their travel experience thanks to an exclusive partnership with Rosetta Stone and Skillshare. This makes American Airlines the first US airline to use online / distance learning from 35,000 feet.

Customers can choose from a collection of more than 150 creative, productivity or language courses and learn for free on America’s new lifestyle in-flight entertainment channel.

“The importance of personal enrichment has grown in the last year, but the different priorities also compete for our attention,” said Clarissa Sebastian, Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience and Onboard Products. “We’re excited to be working with Rosetta Stone and Skillshare to bring our customers new, interactive ways to spend their time with us.”

Learn the local language in less than 10 minutes

When flying with American, there is a lot to nibble on in addition to delicious pretzels and Biscoff ®️ biscuits. Rosetta Stone offers bite-sized content that instills customers’ confidence in speaking other languages, such as greeting them in Italian (ciao), ordering an iced coffee in Spanish (me gustaría un café frío), and even counting to 100 in French. Travelers can also learn German, Japanese, and Chinese through Rosetta Stone, one of the world’s most recognized and trusted language learning brands. More offers will be added in the coming months.

Productivity and creative skills for curious people

Skillshare is the world’s largest online creativity learning community. For anyone who has renewed interest in learning new skills over the past year, you are not alone. With more time at home in 2020, interest in online learning tripled. Customers traveling with American can bring a diary, sketchbook, or use the beverage napkins as they explore classes on writing, illustration, design, photography, and creativity, including:

All in-flight entertainment on American flights is free, including the library with up to 600 films and TV shows. Customers can stream on their phone, tablet or laptop. In addition to Rosetta Stone and Skillshare, the new lifestyle in-flight entertainment channel will include existing customer favorites such as Calm, Austin City Limits live music and concert performances.
