Hazel Kimball Austin, 92, a longtime resident of Cat Mousam Road, Kennebunk, died in Avita of Wells on August 20, 2021 after a period of deteriorating health.

She was born on November 2, 1928 in Kennebunk, the daughter of Ernest L. and Jessie (MacQuarrie) Kimball. She lived in Kennebunk all her life and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1948.

In August 1947 she married Daniel L. Austin in Kennebunk. He died before her in 1989.

She was primarily a housewife and served as an accountant for her husband’s electrical company.

She attended United Methodist Church, West Kennebunk, and was a member of the Madonna Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Kennebunk.

Hazel enjoyed knitting, gardening, and spending time with the family.

Along with her husband, she had died of her brother Ernest Roger Kimball and her sisters Annie K. Smith and Inez C. Kimball.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Austin von Kennebunk, Steven Austin, and his wife Marsha von Berwick; her daughter Trudy Williamson and husband Mark of Boxford, Massachusetts; five grandchildren Melanie Haley, Danielle Welch, Alyssa Williamson, Meghan Hudon and Blake Williamson and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Myra Sparkowich and husband Gerald of Kennebunk and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, followed by an Eastern Star service at 11:30 a.m. Instead of flowers, donations in your memory can be made to: Kennebunk Food Pantry, PO Box 1175, Kennebunk, ME 04043.
