[ad_1]

ZACH theater shows the Tony Award winning musical In the forest from September 29 – November 7, 2021, led by Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book at James Lapine. Originally directed by on Broadway James Rabbit and orchestrations of Jonathan Tunick, In the forest is brought to life outside The People’s Square to use the architecture and nature of ZACH in surprising ways as part of the ZACH360 experience.

“We’re excited to welcome the audience back to the ZACH Outdoor Theater in the Plaza for our first ever ZACH360 experience, where the audience sits in the middle of the action while taking in the architecture and natural surroundings of our park,” said Dave Steakley, Producing Artistic Director. “We treat ACT I like 2019, when fairy tales still seemed possible, and ACT II like 2020, where several giants – the pandemic, racial inequality, protests, a contested election and vaccines – are waiting in the woods to be wrestled with them. This unique, contemporary approach was specifically designed for Austin to speak right now about the idea of community, our persistence in life changing challenges, and the glimmer of light as we look to the future. “

Casting includes NOVA PAYTON (Come Together: Beatles Redux) as a witch; JAMIE GOODWIN (Current Laughter, Sunday in the Park) as a narrator / Mysterious Man / Cinderella’s father; SHELBY ACOSTA as Cinderella; ETHAN ROGERS as wolf / Cinderella’s prince; PAUL SANCHEZ (A Christmas Carol, Matilda the Musical) as Baker; OLIVIA CLARI NICE (Once) as Baker’s wife; JUNE JULIAN as Jack’s mother; JUSTINE GRACE as Little Red Riding Hood; NICOLAS GARZA as Rapunzel’s Prize / Florinda; LANGSTON LEE as Jack; JESSICA O’BRIEN as Rapunzel; DAISY WRIGHT as steward / Lucinda; RACHEL PALLANTE (Esther’s follies) as grandmother / Cinderella’s stepmother; and THERESA MEDINA as Cinderella’s mother.
