The historic and legendary Hotel The Driskill in Texas is proud to announce the renovation of 14 guest suites on the historic side of the hotel as part of an ongoing renovation of the entire property. The suites with upscale furnishings are a stylish testimony to the modern Texan charm and can now be reserved.
Located in the heart of downtown Austin at 604 Brazos Street and featuring a total of 189 guest rooms and unique suites, The Driskill offers elegant accommodations, unparalleled luxury, first-class mixology, award-winning cuisine and live music almost every night of the week for guests including Presidents, throughout its history. Today, more than ever, the hotel exudes a feeling of great elegance and sophistication while still being a warm, welcoming and accessible oasis in the middle of the city. With Texan architecture firm Clayton Korte leading the design for the newly revitalized suites, this is the iconic hotel’s first room renovation since 1998.
The Driskill was originally designed and built in large cities by Colonel Jesse Driskill, a cattle baron, established businessman, and well-known citizen leader. The original cost is estimated at $ 400,000, equivalent to $ 92 million in 2021. In 2013, the historic hotel was acquired by Hyatt as part of the Unbound Collection with a planned investment of $ 8 million in upgrades.
The complete renovation of the 14 guest suites at The Driskill revitalizes the individually designed rooms and adds to the luxurious atmosphere and lively character of the hotel, while maintaining references to the rich 135-year history of the hotel. Working with interior designers from Rottet Studio, award-winning architecture firm Clayton Korte modified the existing mismatched materials and the range of furnishings to highlight the spaces and reveal architectural details that bring out the unique personality of each space. In addition, redesigned bathroom layouts, new fixtures and finishes enhance the guest experience while they relax in elegant luxury that is usually uncommon in historic hotels.
The renovation also served to emphasize and emphasize the individual personality of each of the unique 14 suites. While careful to reuse existing artwork and historical paintings, the focus has been on enhancing the already quirky features of each room while adding more functionality to each room. A tasteful redesign of the original floor plan of each suite created the unique boutique hotel experience travelers have always trusted The Driskill offers.
The Driskill has long been known for refined amenities in the guest rooms such as breathtaking stained-glass bathrooms and expansive balcony views of the city’s fine restaurants and music venues that line lively 6th Street. Some of The Driskill’s most popular suites have now been upgraded for an even more luxurious and relaxing experience. The amenities of the newly renovated Cattle Baron Suite on an area of 1200 square meters include, for example, a claw-foot bathtub, a walk-in shower, a spacious living and dining area with a private wet bar and a separate bedroom with two matching queen-size beds, a vanity and lots of storage space. Other fantastic facilities for hotel guests include access to a collection of museum-quality artwork throughout the hotel, pet-friendly accommodations and Texan home-style cooking, a coffee bar and fresh pastries at the 1886 Café & Bakery and the famous Driskill Bar.
Plans for future hotel upgrades include a full renovation of guest rooms in all 175 rooms, which will begin in September 2022. Other hotel areas and additional outlets, including the Driskill Bar, are also being redesigned.
