US Air Force Selects Kinnami and West Virginia University for Next Generation Information Technology STTR | News



WASHINGTON, September 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Kinnami Software Corporation announced today that it has partnered with the US Air Force for the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract with the US Air Force University of West Virginia (WVU). Sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) as part of its AFWERX Agility Prime program, this Phase 2 STTR Award will fund technology development focused on improving the operations and outcomes of Personnel Rescue (PR) and CSAR missions. This research is in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force 563rd Rescue Group (RQG) based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in. is located Arizona. The 563rd RQG directs the operations of one HC-130J Combat King, two HH-60G Pave Hawk, and three Guardian Angel squadrons in support of CSAR missions around the world. The ability to quickly and accurately locate staff and securely collect and share basic biometric data and other tracking metrics is critical to successful PR / CSAR operations. The robust data management platform from Kinnami in combination with WVU Positioning and navigation algorithms for unmanned drones, offers a new solution to increase the operational effectiveness of PR / CSAR to rescue isolated personnel. The Kinnami platform can be used in compromised communication environments and offers a secure way to exchange sensitive data such as location and biometrics. The solution can securely provide data about the person to be rescued in real time in order to support the deployment more effectively.
