AUSTIN, TX – Veterans across the Austin Metro are recognized and honored with ceremonies and food offerings for Veterans Day.
Veterans Day, which is celebrated annually on November 11th, was first celebrated in 1919 in honor of the fighters of the First World War. It was originally called Armistice Day and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

Veterans Day Ceremony in Georgetown
The annual Georgetown Veterans Day Ceremony takes place on Thursday, November 11th at 11 a.m. at Georgetown-Williamson County’s Veterans Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive.
All participating veterans and their families will be recognized and several veterans will be enrolled in the program. The band, orchestra and choir from Eastview High School will provide music from 10:45 am
Ehrenfeld in Georgetown
The Rotary Club of Georgetown, in partnership with the City of Georgetown, is holding its fifth annual Field of Honor in San Gabriel Park, Chamber Way and East Morrow Street.
The event includes a field of more than 1,500 American flags, each purchased to honor a veteran, active or on duty military member, or first responder. This year the event will also feature a traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
Flags will be on display from November 6th to 14th. The opening ceremonies will take place on Sunday, November 7th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, including an event schedule, visit georgetowntxfieldofhonor.org.
The American Legion Veterans Day celebration at Round Rock
The American Legion at Round Rock is hosting an all-day Veterans Day celebration on November 11th.
The event begins Thursday at 7 a.m. and takes place at 1000 N. Georgetown Street in Round Rock. It includes breakfast provided by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 447, lunch from HEB, flag farewell at noon, and flag ceremony at 3:00 p.m.

Veterans Day at Harley-Davidson in Round Rock

Veterans day bus tour in Pflugerville
Veterans can ride for free on this Veterans Day Bus Tour in Pflugerville on November 11th.
There are roughly six pre-selected stops at restaurants where veterans eat for free and receive free goodie bags and t-shirts. After the bus tour, there will be a free comedy show at 7 p.m.
The bus tour is scheduled for Thursday noon and will last until 5 p.m. The tour is free for veterans and $ 20 for non-veterans.
The kick-off takes place in the Lazydaze Pflugerville, 1202 FM 685, in Pflugerville. Further information about the event can be found on the event page.
Pflugerville’s annual Veterans Day 2021 ceremony
While this year’s Veterans Day celebration has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, there will still be a gathering of veterans in honor of the day at the Fallen Warrior Memorial in Pfluger Park.

Veteran’s Day ceremony in Leander
Leander celebrates Veterans and Active Staff at Leander’s Veterans Park, 1011 S. Baghdad Road on November 11th.
The ceremony begins on Thursday at 10 a.m. and will include the national anthem and keynotes.

Veterans Pocket Park ribbon cutting ceremony in Austin
As the Austin Veterans Day Parade has again been canceled due to COVID-19, the city will honor veterans with the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Veteran’s Pocket Park in Austin.
The tape cutting will take place on Thursday, November 11th at 9:30 am at 2200 Veterans Drive in Austin.

Dunkin ‘Donuts is offering a free donut to veterans and active military personnel at participating locations on November 11th. The offer is only available in store.
Freebirds World Burrito
Freebirds World Burrito is offering free chips and free dip to active military and veterans on November 11th. Anyone who shows a military ID on Veterans Day will receive free chips and dip 55 locations. Choose between guacamole, salsa or the legendary Queso Blanco.
