Maybe it’s the (relatively) cheap rents for budding restaurateurs; Maybe it’s the drivers who have a little time after refueling and wiping the windshield.
Food trailer gas station parking is definitely an Austin thing.
Asher recently grabbed a plate of zucchini noodles with grilled pork, avocado, and a fried egg at Kuway’s Banh Mi, a food truck by the Exxon station on 45th and Burnet. Holy cow, this is good food.
- The pork was nicely caramelized and the delicious, filled dish came with no less than three delicious dipping sauces.
- Zucchini Noodles, for the uninitiated – how Asher was! – are beautifully curled shavings of raw zucchini.
Pro tip: While Kuway’s has a couple of shady picnic tables for eating, there is a pile of grass and beautiful trees in the empty space across the alley behind the food truck – for those who want to picnic next to a gas station.
