AISD runs drive-through job boards to fill positions before the school year

AISD says they have an abundance of roles available, but the focus on Saturday was on those transporting and feeding your kids.

Austin ISD is pushing to hire more bus drivers and food service workers before the next school year.

“As we ask all of our students to return to our schools, we must also be ready to provide them with appropriate assistance,” said Kris Hafezizadeh, executive director of Transportation & Vehicle Services. “August 17th is not far away.”

All AISD students will be back in the classrooms in August after the district announced there won’t be a virtual option for the upcoming school year.

A job fair held on Saturday focused on transportation and hospitality, but Norma Castillo, director of talent acquisition, said they have a variety of roles available.

“We just want to get out to the community that Austin ISD is hiring, AISD is a great place to work and we have benefits and competitive wages.”

Bus driver wages start at $ 17 an hour, food service managers at $ 15.95 an hour, and food service substitutes at $ 12 an hour.
