Austin Bakery Makes Dalgona Candy Mochi Doughnuts Inspired by ‘Squid Game’

Austin Mochi donut pop-up Bom Bakeshop honors Netflix’s hit global TV show Squid Game during its next pop-up this week. A key storyline in the series is Korean street food Dalgona Candy (long known as ppopgi), which requires competitors to remove stamped designs from the sweet candy without breaking the cutouts. Bom’s iteration will feature a Dalgona-flavored glazed mochi donut topped with a Dalgona candy.

The item is available as a stand-alone order (read: cannot be used to create a six-box order), although other seasonal flavors include apple pie icing and honey goat cheese with a balsamic fig drizzle. Pre-orders are made online. While the first day has already taken place, the second day will take place on Saturday the 13th.
