By spending your dollars locally, you are investing back in your community. “AUSTIN, TX – The Austin City Department of Economic Development is encouraging everyone to invest in the Austin economy by doing local boutiques on Saturday November 27th , Artisans, restaurants and independent shops.
Austin Business Districts Since small businesses are vital to the local economy, the Economic Development Department provides resources to help set up business districts that represent Austin’s cherished character. Backed by the Souly Austin program and district tools, these vibrant business districts offer an array of retail stores, restaurants, and services.
Small businesses are the foundation of a healthy economy by creating jobs and empowering our communities. The effects of local spending create a ripple effect that runs through Austin. According to the SBA, more than half of Americans own or work small businesses, and small businesses create about two-thirds of the new jobs in the United States each year. The positive advantages of shopping and eating on site go far beyond individual transactions. Recent results from the Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey 2020 found that more than half (56%) of small businesses surveyed believe this year’s Small Business Saturday is more important than ever for their business, and 78% say the Christmas sale is on affecting their ability to hold will open their doors in 2022.

This national celebration was founded by American Express in 2010 and has been officially co-funded by the US Small Business Administration (SBA) since 2011.
