The Falls County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Central Texas woman for allegedly abandoning her puppy in a park with no food or water after she was unable to house the animal.
Police said Alyce Everton attempted to reinstate the puppy, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, via Facebook on Tuesday October 19. Everton was unable to house the dog in three days, so police said they drove to the waterfalls in Brazos Park and left the puppy on Friday, October 22nd.
“Everton has also failed to provide enough food, water, care and shelter to keep the animal in good health and to provide proper veterinary care,” said the sheriff’s office from Falls County.
Police said almost a week later, a police officer on duty found the puppy while on patrol. Law enforcement did their best to locate the owner and was able to locate Everton with the help of the community.
“After an investigation by Deputy Murray, it was determined that Everton did not want the dog,” said the Falls County Sheriff’s Office. “Austin Boxer Rescue acted immediately and brought the dog to Temple for a full examination.”
According to the Falls County Sheriff’s Office, a person commits a crime if they knowingly, intentionally, or recklessly abandon an animal in their care without making adequate arrangements for someone else to take care of it.
Everton was arrested for cruelty to a non-farm animal, was arrested in Marlin and is being held in Falls County Jail on $ 10,000 bail.
