AUSTIN
City selects 4 improvement projects
Four community-proposed projects were selected to receive project support and co-payment funds through the Austin Public Works neighborhood partnership program.
The projects will benefit the community by improving the lighting, accessibility and available resources on city owned property.
The Davis / White Park Trail Lighting project will install five pole-mounted solar lights along the trail in Davis White Northeast Neighborhood Park. This project is carried out in partnership with the Alliance for African American Health in Central Texas and the LBJ Neighborhood Association.
The TA Brown Park Improvements project includes the installation of exercise equipment, the construction of a walkable path and a ramp, and the addition of picnic tables and benches. Work on this project is carried out in collaboration with the Highland Neighborhood Association.
The Clawson & Lightsey Intersection Beautification Project will remove plastic posts and asphalt in two places in the street and replace them with traditional concrete curbs that are landscaped and maintained by the South Lamar Neighborhood Association.
The Whirlpool Patio Education Center project will add new elements to the existing Whirlpool Patio built by the Austin Public Works Urban Trails Program. The project includes two three-part interpretive signs, educational activities, and a climbable, carved rock sculpture of a salamander. This project is carried out in collaboration with the Hill Country Conservancy.
