AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal / KXAN) – Amazon continues to grow in Austin and is quickly becoming one of the top employers in the region with another delivery station opening in 2022.
The company rented 315,000 square feet on Decker Lane, north of Lake Walter E. Long, and more than 200 jobs are expected at the retail giant’s new facility. The new station in northeast Austin is roughly the size of three typical HEB stores.

This is just one of many projects the e-commerce company has undertaken in central Texas, bringing Amazon’s local investments to over $ 5.5 billion at the Pflugerville fulfillment center since arriving in the region in 2015 currently more than 11,000 direct employees in the Austin area, said an Amazon spokesman. That makes Amazon one of the top private sector employers in the region, behind local giants like HEB and Dell Technologies, according to Austin Business Journal research.
The spokesman said the company estimates it indirectly contributed to the creation of 27,000 jobs in the area through construction, transportation, retail, healthcare, food services and more.
