FBFK Law Firm Grows Into Austin, Taps Lauded Intellectual Property Attorney Kirby Cronin to Lead Market

DALLAS – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The management of Dallas-based law firm FBFK announced today that the firm will open an Austin office and bring on board noted intellectual property (IP) attorney Kirby Cronin of Cronin PLLC to lead the market effort and the to strengthen FBFK’s strong IP practice. From Cronin PLLC, longtime IP attorneys Allison Copeland and Jill Cronin also join FBFK.

Cronin, a 25-year-old attorney with expertise in intellectual property transactions, litigation and advice, as well as extensive experience representing technology-related matters for financial institutions, will join FBFK as a shareholder. He brings long-standing IP clients Whataburger, Frost Bank, CH Guenther & Son and many others with him.
He also maintains an active trademark law practice and has experience with a wide variety of copyrights, trade secrets, domain names, social media and other intellectual property requirements. Cronin also has extensive legal experience in a variety of other areas, such as commercial disputes, commercial and business transactions, and labor matters.

Cronin’s legal background includes experience in both a private law firm and as an in-house attorney, particularly as an in-house attorney for Computer Sciences Corporation. He has also negotiated with Fortune 100 US companies such as ExxonMobil, AT&T, Dell, HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprises, JP Morgan Chase, IBM, Capital One, Microsoft and Dow Chemical and leads them regularly.
Cronin holds both a bachelor’s and a degree in law from the University of Texas and continues to teach transactional design at the University of Texas School of Law.

Allison Copeland
Copeland, a seasoned intellectual property attorney with more than 20 years of experience in private law firms and as an in-house business advisor, focuses on intellectual property transactions and advice, including software licensing, open source compliance, collaborative marketing, reseller and OEM – Agreements, and other intellectual property requirements. Copeland received her bachelor and law degrees from the University of Texas.
Jill Cronin
Cronin, who is also a resident commercial litigation and insurance law attorney, brings a wide range of IP experience to FBFK – from brand tracking, sharing and enforcement to social media matters and matters related to competitions and promotions . She also promotes extensive experience in insurance protection law and assists clients in responding to crises and reviewing insurance protection. Cronin served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas Insurance Law Section and co-chaired the Injury / Intellectual Property Ethics and Promotion Subcommittees of the ABA Insurance Coverage Litigation Section. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and her doctorate in law (with honors) from the University of Houston Law Center.
FBFK’s current intellectual property and technology practice includes 14 lawyers in Dallas, Houston and Silicon Valley with extensive expertise in patent infringement, copyright infringement, trademark infringement and unfair competition, technology contract disputes, domain name disputes, e-commerce disputes and license disputes.
