Forcepoint To Acquire Security Service Edge Leader Bitglass

[ad_1]

Austin, Texas – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Forcepoint, a global leader in data-first security, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the leading security service edge (SSE) provider Bitglass. Bitglass offers the industry’s only truly integrated cloud-native SSE platform for securing access and use of information as businesses move to the cloud.

It combines world-class Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) in combination with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) functions to enable uniform security policies for web, cloud and private data center access managed from a single console.

Bitglass’ SSE platform complements Forcepoint’s data-first SASE architecture and will accelerate Forcepoint’s efforts to make advanced data security and threat protection technologies easier for businesses to deploy and use.

The company’s SSE platform is specifically designed to take full advantage of modern hyperscalers. It goes beyond simple access from the Internet, dynamically scales to handle growing loads, and offers the resilience customers need to ensure constant access to applications and data. For the past five years, Bitglass has consistently delivered 99.99% availability to ensure users have reliable and secure access to the resources they need to be productive.

With the return to the office, companies have to adapt to a hybrid work environment – in which people work from home, in the office or on the go at the same time. With this shift, security teams are shifting their focus from workplace security to an employee security approach that focuses on securing employee access to information anywhere. Additionally, the acceleration of virtual workforce, digital first selling, service and customer experience in a company without a perimeter is driving the need for cloud-based security that can protect people everywhere, a technology recognized by Gartner as an SSE.

SSE stands for the convergence of technologies for securing the access to and use of sensitive data and intellectual property in web and cloud traffic as well as in private data center applications. By unifying security functions, policies, and operations that were previously spread across isolated products from different vendors, SSE reduces the complexity that enables hybrid workers to securely and efficiently access and use the range of resources they need for productivity require.

“Complexity is the enemy of security. IT teams today are faced with the reality that securing a hybrid work environment is even more complex than the switch to home office last year. With the acquisition of Bitglass, Forcepoint will accelerate our ability to meet the widespread need of customers to make it easier than ever for hybrid workers to securely access and use information anywhere – on the web, in the cloud, and in the data center. ” said Manny Rivelo, chief executive officer at Forcepoint.

“When the average CISO manages more than 50 security products with loosely connected technologies, it is clear that the industry is challenged and needs to change. By bringing Bitglass and Forcepoint together, we will be able to deliver the industry’s first integrated security platform that transforms and consolidates data security, network, web and cloud security, threat protection, advanced surveillance and zero trust control to the Access to and use of information is more effective, more reliable and less complex, ”added Rivelo.

Further details on the integration of Bitglass into Forcepoint’s data-first SASE architecture will be announced later this year after the acquisition is complete. To learn more about Forcepoint’s data-first SASE, please visit https://www.forcepoint.com/use-case/sase-security.
