Tesla has already created 5,000 new jobs in Austin, Texas in 2021, according to a report by the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Firms expanding or relocating to the city have pledged to create 20,840 jobs between January and September, with 150 companies contributing to the growth. The data shows that Tesla is the company that promises and creates the most jobs in Austin in 2021.

After the announcement that Tesla would expand its North American manufacturing facility by building a new facility in Austin, speculation began to intrigue many interested parties as to how many jobs the electric car maker would add to the region. Tesla chose Austin over Tulsa, Oklahoma amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that left many people unemployed and bankrupt many companies. Tesla’s final promise, however, was to help Austin regain its economic hegemony by offering a significant number of jobs to the area’s residents.

Tesla would eventually create 15,000 new jobs from the Texas Gigafactory, with 9,000 new job opportunities entering the state, growing Texas’s economic platform, and revitalizing a region known for strong commercialized residency. Tesla is the youngest to announce during its 2021 shareholders meeting last week that its headquarters will be officially relocated to the city of Austin.

Tesla has created the most jobs to date and is also committed to creating the most jobs. Tesla, an “expanded” company on the Austin Chamber of Commerce charts, said it would promise 5,000 new job opportunities in the area. KVUE, an Austin-based ABC subsidiary, said Tesla has also created 5,000 jobs in the area to date.

With Tesla already announced that it will move its headquarters from Palo Alto, Calif. To Austin, that number could already rise as more job opportunities are likely to be created as the company moves its administrative operations to Texas.

Other notable companies promising significant job opportunities include Amazon, which is committed to creating 2,000 new jobs at a Texas fulfillment center.
