Today is National Oyster Day, and oysters are either loved or not. It’s not easy to get over the idea of swallowing a raw mollusk or the fact that Austin isn’t near the coast can make it sound unsavory. Despite the city’s inland status, there are plenty of places in the city for fresh, delicious oysters sourced from coast to coast. Whether you like your oysters raw, grilled, smoked, or even fried, there is a restaurant in town that is perfect for sipping oysters on a hot summer day. Here is a list of places to freeze and slurp your oysters without traveling to a seaside town.
Pearl’s was founded in the spring of 2009 by chefs Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman with the aim of establishing a great seafood oyster bar on popular South Congress Avenue with the Gulf of Mexico and simple, clean preparations. Happy hour is 50 ¢ off Monday through Friday from 3pm to 5pm Oysters and $ 2 off drinks.

Clarks is a small, chic district in WestAustin with a great raw food bar, homemade sourdough, fresh fish, lobster rolls, fried hamburgers and delicious libations. Join them for lunch, brunch, happy hour, and dinner. PARTICULARITIES: Monday to Friday 3pm to 5pm 50 ¢ off oysters, 1/2 off martinis and burgers, and $ 5 off oyster shooters and draft beer. Saturday & Sunday 3pm to 5pm ½ off bottles of wine & 50 ¢ off oysters and $ 5 oyster shooters.
Salt merchant The menu is all about fresh seafood from sustainable sources. The raw bar features oysters, peel-and-eat Gulf Coast prawns, and crudo specialties. Mongers Market + Kitchen is a seafood restaurant, market and raw bar in the neighborhood at 4119 Guadalupe Street. They serve the freshest seafood and oysters in town. Product availability changes daily. Reservations can be made online!
Honey Moon is an elegant, atmospheric restaurant and cocktail lounge with a well-curated menu with upscale comfort dishes and modern American plates. The menu also includes a craft cocktail list with fresh juices and classic ingredients, as well as an extensive and varied wine list featuring grape varieties from around the world, with a selection of beers and ciders, as well as a selection of local craft beers. The hotel is located south of the Hyde Park area at 624 W 34th St., is the work of love of an Austin couple and Co-owner.
