Fall festival season is back, as several popular events have returned after a long hiatus – including the grand Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival (somewhat withdrawn). It’s also a good time to carbohydrate loading; a wine bar hosts an Italian wine dinner and a downtown restaurant offers pasta specials all week. Let yourself be put in a creepy mood with a crime thriller dinner, refuel with some smoked whole pork and start the next week vigorously with an autumn beer dinner with a local distillery.
Tuesday October 19th
National Pasta Week at il Modo
National Pasta Day was Sunday, but people at the newest Italian restaurant downtown celebrate all week with chef specials. From now until October 23, a new pasta dish will be offered every day, ranging from mushroom fettucine to linguini arrabiata. Located in the new Kimpton Harper Hotel, the restaurant opens at 5:00 PM daily and reservations are recommended.
Thursday October 21
Italian wine dinner at Thirty Eight & Vine
The wine bar, located at the push of a button in the Foundry District, offers a multi-course wine dinner with dishes from the favorite Italian restaurant, Café Bella in Fort Worth. Paired wines will be from Il Borro. Seating is $ 110 per person plus taxes and gratuities, and dinner starts at 6:30 PM.
Friday October 22nd
29th annual Mid-Cities Greek FoodFest
The three-day event takes place Friday through Sunday at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist and features Greek food galore and live dance performances. Enjoy homemade lamb chops, gyros sandwiches, pastitsio casseroles, flaming cheese, hummus, and more, paired with Greek beer and wine. Entry and parking are free all weekend. The festival takes place on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival: Fall Edition
A year and a half after being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival is back for a mini fall rendition. There are three days of unique events, all of which take place outside at the Heart of the Ranch in Clearfork (and they are expected to sell out, so online tickets are the way to go). Ticket sales benefit the Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation, which funds culinary grants and classroom grants. The three events are:
-
On Friday Taco. Beer. Repeat. (6 p.m.-9 p.m., $ 100) diners can get their taco fix at 18 different restaurants, including Magdalena’s, Mi Dia From Scratch, and Del Norte Tacos.
-
Saturday brings Matchday gourmet (2-5pm, $ 100) where 18 chefs – including Jon Bonnell, Stefon Rishel, and Michael Thomson – cook their hatchback favorites over live fires. Both events will have plenty of craft beer, wine, and spirits to wash it all down.
-
The festival starts on Sunday with Bluegrass brunch (11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., $ 200) with a five-course southern-style meal paired with drinks. Six chefs will work together here, including Blaine Staniford from Grace and Shannon and Austin Odom from Walnut Springs’ hip Grandma Leen’s. A live bluegrass band and community style seating make for a good time.
Murder in Sundance Square
Take part in crime thriller action during a three-course meal at the Aloft Fort Worth Downtown Hotel. Professional actors re-enact scenes from a crime that guests help solve. The menu choices include blackened tilapia with jalapeño cream sauce and chicken parmesan with pasta alfredo. Dinner is $ 62.95 per person (excluding alcohol) and starts at 7:00 PM.
Saturday 23 October

Beer festival in the Flying Saucer
Bierknurds are happy. The annual beer tasting festival of the keg shop in the city center is back after a year off. Guests can choose from 50 different local, national and international craft brews to try on the Flying Saucer Terrace, where live music is played all day. The $ 45 ticket includes an event t-shirt, tasting glass, and 12 tastings. Beerknurds (you know who you are) are given a $ 40 ticket price. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
