Third annual Hunter 5K Halloween Fun Run honors tragic death of Austin boy

So a tradition was born.

“Hunter was a very spirited four-and-a-half-year-old boy who loved to yell at everything, so we have the tiger,” said Hunter’s mother, Jessica Henderson. “It’s kind of our symbol for him. He’s screaming everywhere he’s been. Every year before the race we say, ‘Okay, everyone gives a big roar’ and everyone yells and then they take off. It’s pretty awesome.”

The race will take place again on Halloween weekend.

All proceeds from the race go to the Dell Children’s Trust. Jessica Henderson told KVUE that it was her family’s way of thanking a community for being there when they needed it most.

The race starts at 9:00 am and when it’s over there are games, raffles and food trucks.
